'Make a work which moves from one place to another'

After having considerable amounts of trouble with my previous context idea, I have chosen to change my idea all together.
My metal work workshop helped me come to this conclusion.

I want to produce a abstract sculpture that represents me.
The idea of it being hard and angular on the outside and soft in the inside comes to mind.

To do this I will use metal and then some form of soft material like feathers (light and flowing).

I will then take a series of photographs of this sculpture in different places.
These place being around my home - and around Birmingham, this is to represent my move to university and my feelings about it.

Being tough on the outside and scared / innocent on the inside, moving from London to Birmingham, thus
'Make a work which moves from one place to another'.

The locations I have in mind at the moment are:
London underground
London eye
My back garden
My house
Cadburys factory (to represent Bournville)
The bull ring

all of these locations mean something to me, for example my university halls are located near the Bullring.

Bellow is my first design of my sculpture, that i produced during my workshop.

This is made out of Aluminum.
I cut a circular shape and then hammered the base shape, I then added wire to make the structured top.

Note -
The locations of where I will shoot my sculpture - could represent my journey to Birmingham from London.

These are the first photographs that I took, they represent the initial image I had in my head. Although I'm not all that fond on how the background is out of focus.

To overcome this problem, I thought I could photograph my sculpture separately and have it printed onto acetate, then place it over photos I take on my journey.
I liked this idea as I thought it was a unique way of displaying my work.
I started to play around with the contrast of printing in colour and black and white.
Bellow is an image printed off in B/W of the Bullring in Birmingham - and my photograph of my sculpture is printed in Colour.

I then went on to switch the colours.
Bellow are images of Euston Square in London and on the London underground, both in Colour and my sculpture images are in B/W.
I think this works much better.

I played with the idea of using more the one photograph, and overlapping them to make the vision of more movement.

I then wanted to loke more into representing movement.
I positioned my sculpture photos onto of moving images.
I like the way this has turned out, but I dont think it will look as effective for my final piece.

I started to experiment with just the acetate images to make the look as though they where moving.

I then opened my shutter speed to 1" (one second) to create an actual captured movement, of me sway my camera.

In the end I have choosen to use the photograph and sculpture idea. I have printed both my phototgraph and sculpture onto black and white acetate, and frame them in black wooden frames. This makes them look as though they were a set.
