"Create a five minute silent film based on a small part of everyday life"

My ideas for this piece, started of as basing my film around something as simple as my everyday routine - getting up, traveling to uni, coming home and eating dinner etc. I thought that most people would initially think of creating a piece more diverse and in depth, about a specific occurrence, for example, a car crash or something extravagant, so the silence wouldn't be such an inconvenience.

Yet I thought keeping it simplistic, would make far much more of a impact then trying to make something out of nothing. nothing exciting happens to me on a daily basis.

After much thought, my idea hit me; what is more simplistic then time itself.
Its inevitable that it will happen everyday, everyday until the world comes to an end.
It effects everyone, everyday.
We cant escape it.

No one actually notices time passing by, until they actually stop to think about it.

People in general have so much to think about everyday, time seems to be such a small insignificant detail in comparison, yet in actual context, its the biggest, most important factor of someones day. With out time, there would be no existence, there would be no reason to get up in the morning; in fact we wouldn't even know what 'morning' is.

Rough Ideas

After brainstorming, I knew I wanted to make my film black and white, this is because I feel that it being in colour would distract from the statement being brought across.
I came up with some rough still images of what I wanted my end product to look like.
I started with taking photos of the clock.

I then edited my image on Photo Shop, by making it black and white. I also thought that having the word "Inevitable" across my image would help audience, understand my point.

After brainstorming I decided that I didn't think a time laps was enough of a statement, and would be too continuous for a 5 minute film. I also didn't have the equipment to film a clock for 24 hours.

Instead I have made a film on photographs. I took many photos of the clock from different angles and as the minute hand was in motion.

Using Final Cut Pro, I produced sequences of my photographs to make 30 second clips of film.

I then played around with the effects to match with my music.

After playing around with the video filters and placing my clips in time with the music, I exported my sequence to make a minute long loop, in which I would loop 5 times.

I added text and converted my film to black and white.
Bellow is the finished outcome.
